Sunday Sessions March

In March we set up the new Sunday Sessions - a casual drop in crafting experience for kids.

The Creative Learning Space is open from 10-12 for kids aged 3-11 years and the cost is $10 per child. In the afternoon, the CLS is open from 1-3pm for young people aged 11years and up, and they can either choose from a $10 mini activity, or purchase one of our craft kits or patterns in store and start a bigger project.

We have really been enjoying this and one thing that has been really exciting, is seeing the number of boys come through, joining in the fun and developing crafting and sewing skills!

Each weekend we have a different theme, and thought we would share some images here on the blog.

We are very excited about some BIG changes, and welcome Laura Maidment, our women's fashion designer - as our second in charge on a Sunday! Come and join us next Sunday for Easter Crafts!

Love Vintage

Today, on my day off {Deni}

I ventured in to Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park, with my two little ones, to visit the Love Vintage Clothing Show and Sale

It was great to see all the gorgeous vintage dresses and hats in one place....

and I came away with a couple of purchases - the cupie doll kept Amalia happy - although secretly I bought it for myself, and the vintage fabric is for a special project we are about to embark on at FRL!! The book - well, couldn't go past it - Kelly was there in the flesh when I purchased it :)

a Hootalicious birthday party!!

Recently we hosted Sienna's 9th Birthday Party.

The theme was "Hootalicious" and using the pattern from our gorgeous designer Clare, from Craft Schmaft, we helped Sienna, her sister and eight of Sienna's friends, to make the uber cute sock owl softies. The Birthday girl also received our little gift of her Owl Rosette Brooch/Hair Clip (a little birdie had told us her favourite colour was blue).

Sienna's mum had opted for our Deluxe Party Package, and as such, the girls enjoyed a healthy munch and crunch platter of grapes, carrots, cucumbers and organic corn chips, with apple juice, during their crafting, and our absolutely fantastic Sweet's Station, styled by local business Devine Eventions, incorporating the most yummiest owl cookies from another local business, Gingerbread Kiddies!

Sienna was gob smacked with her celebratory Birthday Cupcake Tower, baked by local business Suzy Cool Cupcakes.

taking a little break

Last weekend I (Deni) took a little break, and went for a walk with my daughter Amalia, and Loren's twins in the pram.

It was a gorgeous afternoon, and I thought I would share some of the images with you that I snapped along the way.

This walk is across the road from Free Range Living, in the Kamay Botany Bay National Park.

We love it here! So much to do, enjoying the outdoors!

Whether it is fishing, paddle boarding, swim in the beach, riding your bike or scooter, learning about the history of Captain Cook's Landing Place, relaxing under a pine tree or taking an adventure walk through the forest!

Why not plan a weekend visit, bring the family for a picnic, or lunch at The Endeavour Cafe, browse the Kurnell Art Gallery, and meander through our Free Range Living emporium!

School Holiday Creative Workshops

We have had an absolutely wonderful time over the past week with our School Holiday Creative Workshops. We are so proud of all the youngsters that have joined in on the fun, most of whom had never done any hand sewing before!

Our workshops have been designed to develop skills and knowledge in design and hand crafts, and we have introduced participants to applique, rosettes, hand sewing and machine sewing, as well as making fabric and felt plushies, jewellery and accessories, plus paiting and drawing techniques.

We are excited to be now stocking kits and patterns for sale in the shop, and during the new school term, we will be running sewing classes and workshops for young people, introductory classes for children, and also contemporary handcraft skills workshops for adults.

Following is a collection of photos taken during one of our Fantastically Fabulous Fashion workshops facilitated by Laura Maidment (Fashion Designer).

To be updated on our workshops and classes - make sure you follow our facebook page, or sign up to our mailing list in the contact section of our website.

School Holiday Workshops!

FRL workshops are designed to enhance childrens' techniques and knowledge in a range of creative arts and contemporary hand crafts.

We want our kids to feel inspired and empowered, in their ability to CREATE and EXPRESS THEMSELVES. These skills will be a life long parnter, great to access in quiet times at home, for relaxation or as a boredom buster, and will always bring joy and a sense of achievement.

Children are asked to bring a healthy snack for their morning/afternoon tea, and a Paint Smock or old shirt is advised for Art Workshops.

All workshops are $35 per child - Price includes all high quality creative arts materials and workshops are run by experienced professionals.(see Facilitor Profiles for more information)

To book your child in to one of our workshops, email info@freerangeliving.co or pop in to the shop.

Places are limited to ten (10) children per workshop, so it is highly advised that you don't hesitate, to avoid dissappointed little people.
