Kristen Doran Workshop - Fabric Coasters

Yesterday we enjoyed the company of textiles and contemporary hand crafts designer, Kristen Doran, who came to teach us how to make fabric coasters.

We were able to choose from some of her screen printed fabrics, including her crochet design and her winter nest. I chose the winter nest in a gorgeous new neon orange print - very contemporary !

It was lots of fun, great chatting together about family, tv shows, and all our other interests. It's so nice to work on projects in such warm, friendly company.

We have some other great workshops coming up in our schedule - so submit your booking to secure your place :)

Week Two of our Kids Sewing School and we have welcomed a new member to the group - making it a full class! We have since had other enquiries for the Sewing School and look forward to welcoming a new class in Term 3. If your child is interested in joining the Sewing School, please forward your expression to info@freerangeliving.co

In the mean time, check out the latest creations - the girls were decorating their Sewing School Tote Bag, using appliqué and hand sewing techniques, as well as learning to create fabric ruffles on the sewing machine.

The school programme is written and facilitated by fashion designer Laura Maidment.

In this first class the girls made their own sashes, using fabric rosettes, hand made fabric buttons and hand sewing techniques.

Easter CrAfternoon Party!

Last Thursday we celebrated our daughter Amalia's 6th Birthday.

Naturally we held it at the NEW Free Range Living Creative Learning Studio.

As it was such a beautiful day, we decided to mix things up a bit, so ran half craft and half outdoor activities.

Easter Egg and Spoon Races

and punch balloon games

We celebrated singing Happy Birthday and enjoying a cupcake tower by Suzy Cool Cupcakes.

Our Sweet Station and balloon topiary was supplied by Devine Eventions, with some Gingerbread Kiddies bunny cookies.

The kids were in awe of it, and were very patient, waiting til the end of the party to receive goodies in their treat box to take home with them.

Sunday Sessions March

In March we set up the new Sunday Sessions - a casual drop in crafting experience for kids.

The Creative Learning Space is open from 10-12 for kids aged 3-11 years and the cost is $10 per child. In the afternoon, the CLS is open from 1-3pm for young people aged 11years and up, and they can either choose from a $10 mini activity, or purchase one of our craft kits or patterns in store and start a bigger project.

We have really been enjoying this and one thing that has been really exciting, is seeing the number of boys come through, joining in the fun and developing crafting and sewing skills!

Each weekend we have a different theme, and thought we would share some images here on the blog.

We are very excited about some BIG changes, and welcome Laura Maidment, our women's fashion designer - as our second in charge on a Sunday! Come and join us next Sunday for Easter Crafts!

Love Vintage

Today, on my day off {Deni}

I ventured in to Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park, with my two little ones, to visit the Love Vintage Clothing Show and Sale

It was great to see all the gorgeous vintage dresses and hats in one place....

and I came away with a couple of purchases - the cupie doll kept Amalia happy - although secretly I bought it for myself, and the vintage fabric is for a special project we are about to embark on at FRL!! The book - well, couldn't go past it - Kelly was there in the flesh when I purchased it :)
